Warm Front in Hove
Celia Barlow MP Keeping Houses Warm in Hove and Portsdale
Celia Barlow MP is encouraged vulnerable homes to apply for Warm Front grants. Now more popular than ever before, Warm Front has helped over half a million homes in the last two years alone. These homes are now saving money off their fuel costs- on average more than £200 every year- and living a warmer, healthier life.
Warm Front grants of up to £2,700 are available for people living in rented property who are in receipt of certain benefits.
Earlier this winter, Celia Barlow MP joined together with EDF Energy to distribute ‘Warm Front’ packs at Hove Station.
Celia Barlow MP said; “Fuel poverty is a serious issue for many families in Hove and Portsdale. Warm Front is making a significant difference to the lives of my constituents. Promoting affordable warth continues to be the most sustainable solution to tackling fuel poverty.”
Since the first of June 2000, nearly 3,000 households in Hove have benefited from heating and insulation measures carried out by Warm Front. Furthermore, 1, 689 households of those over 60 years of age also received assistance.
Warm Front is the Government’s largest scheme designed to combat fuel poverty in the private owner occupied and rented sector in England. The recent, independent report on Warm Front has just been published and found that the average price for a new gas heating system was 57% cheaper than that found in the wider market, with the systems offering excellent vale for money.
