Foredown Tower, a Portslade landmark, was facing closure in Tory budget cuts at Brighton and Hove City Council. Many people in Portslade and beyond greatly enjoy visiting the Tower whether they visit to learn about wildlife and conservation issues or to attend Astronomy Club meetings. I, in conjunction with local Councillors Bob Carden and Les Hamilton as well as many concerned local residents, successfully fought to stop the closure. However, the campaign must continue.
The Council are currently conducting a feasibility study into the future of the Tower but this is based on current admissions data. Currently the Tower is not attracting enough visitors and this is in part due to lack of publicity and lack of activities. This is why I am launching my own consultation process, the results of which will be presented to the Council, to find out what residents would like to see at the Tower.
