Students welcome Cabinet Minister to Hove

This morning John Denham, Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills visited local business Global Digital Broadcast (GDB) and BHASVIC College with Celia Barlow MP. 

At GDB, Mr Denham was given an explanation about the companies future plans to provide educational resources to schools, colleges and resources across the U.K. 

JD visit 2He then moved on to visit BHASVIC college and after an informal chat and lunch with the Senior Management team, he was quizzed by a group of eager second year students. 

Questions ranged from how the government could make the UCAS system easier for students to use, to queries about levels of financial support for lower and middle income families.

After his visit, John Denham MP said;JD visit

 ‘I'm really grateful that Celia invited me to see BHASVIC college and to meet students. It's important for me that I hear from people who experience the system first hand.

‘The enthusiasm of all the staff and students is truly impressive and I wish all those students taking their exams the best of luck.’

Celia added; 

‘I was delighted to be able to show John the great work happening in Hove.  We were both very impressed with the intelligent questions asked by the students and I am pleased so many of them will be able to take advantage of improvements to University and vocational qualifications.’
